Proflex 101: The Basics - GI + OG versus Kee, Revo Ears 1, 2, & 3
So you want to start Proflexing. Maybe you’ve been running a different mask, were having trouble grabbing enough air, and a friend let you try on their Proflex: breezy. Maybe you like Air Jordans and prefer collectible sporting apparel, and are taking that spirit to your paintballing.
Whatever the reason, it is helpful to know what you’re looking for and what some key differences are. For this article, I’m going to cover the difference between GI, Kee and OG bottoms, and Revo ears versions 1-3, giving you the literal foundational 101 knowledge for your Proflex builds.
OG v. Kee - Look at the logo on the nose
You’ll see that OG JT Proflex bottoms on the left have a JT in a font/format with an early-90s feel that you might see at a yoga studio, with a “USA” next to it. My frosty OG Proflex clear bottoms to the left are a bit beat and scratched around the logo as I play woodsball and follow the road less traveled, but you can see it clear as day on the OG purple IZE bottoms in the middle, or top right if you’re on your phone.
The Kee JT Proflex clears to the far right (bottom if you’re on your phone) have the capital “JT” logo, one that feels more at home in the late 1990s during the Terminator-era, as it looks kind of like the font they used for “T2”.
Keep in mind that newer “GI” bottoms have the same logo as the Kee bottoms. Generally you can tell by looking to the tag on the chinstrap, if it says “Made in Mexico”, the bottoms are Kee, if it says “Made in China”, they are GI. Kee bottoms also look broader, like a wider smile almost.
It may not have a chinstrap to tell, or this may not always be the case. If you aren’t sure, put up a post in the JT Proflex BST & Showoff Facebook group and ask the JT Yodas for guidance my young flex-padawan, or read the following section for further insight.
OG + Kee v. GI - Look at the Vents by the Chinstrap
OG and Kee are both olde schoole, and what you presently see on the market is “GI” era, referring to GI Sportz (I’m not the one misspelling the name there, that’s the format they’ve apparently chosen), the current corporate overlord of JT Paintball.
GI-era bottoms have a “JT” similar to the Kee, are tighter and more boxy, rock less of a wide smile than the OGs or Kees, with the tell-tale difference: the vent-holes where the chin-strap is installed being vertical as opposed to horizontal like OG or Kee bottoms. See below:
first image a GI front-shot, note the boxy style; second image a GI side-shot, note the vertical vents where the chinstrap is; third image OG bottoms, note the unique yoga-like JT logo on the nose; fourth image OG bottoms note the horizontal lines where the chinstrap would be were these not pre-chinstrap era 2002 OG bottoms; fifth image Kee bottoms, note the late 1990s Terminator-style “JT” logo; sixth image Kee bottoms, note the horizontal vents by the chinstrap.
Revo ears versions 1.0, 2.0, + 3.0
You’ll see JT Proflex Revo Ears advertised as version 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0. 1.0s are OG, 2.0s are Kee, and the 3.0s GI.
To the left: JT Proflex 1.0 Revo ears, look to the top for the telltale “shark fin”, and to the bottom for the thick cabled pattern with no logo.
In the middle, right if you’re on your phone, see JT Revo 2.0s, look to the top for the lack of the “shark fin”, and to the bottom for the thick cabled pattern with no logo.
To the right, bottom if you’re on your phone, we have the Revo 3.0 ears, notice the lack of a “shark fin”, the lack of the thick cabled pattern, and the JT logo.
Above you’ll see the Revo 1.0-2.0, or Revolution 2.0, ears by Committed/Boston Paintball, a re-release of the “Revolution” line from back when with the overlapping cables/accent lines on the ears and bottoms. Behind them a “Norse Spirit” JOTUNflex custom hydro-dipped Proflex build. I may drop some JOTUNice bottoms from the various ICE drops this year with custom hydro-dipped noses at some point.
Above atop a dinosaur-edition Little Tikes Cozy Coupe we have the Revo 2.0 bottoms put out by Committed Paintball/Boston Paintball in Late 2024, alongside transparent frames off JT’s Smoke ICE build, dropped also in late 2024. I’ve got some of those Texan JOTUN straps up on eBay, not bothering with the JOTUNshoppe this rotation around, but the JOTUN does toss some treasures onto the ebay shoppe here and there.
There we have it, Proflex 101: GI + OG v. Kee bottoms, and Revo 1-3 ears, plus Revolution 2.0 bottoms and ears, go forth and Play + Build Flexes Like Giants
P8ball=FUN. Play Like GIANTS.
