Keep Your JT Proflex Mask Fresh w/ Regular Disassembling/Cleaning After Play
Play Like a Giant at the paintball field and return home splattered? Well done, person, now it’s time to get that mask taken apart, cleaned, and fresh to death for next week.
Disassemble the Proflex and place into your just-cleaned kitchen sink.
Hold the frame firmly and remove the visor with firm pulls to minimize plastic stretching
Remove the rivets that connect the goggle bottoms and the ears (you’ll need the allen key and an x-head screwdriver)
Hold the goggle frame firmly and pull the goggle bottoms off with firm pulls to minimize plastic stretching
Remove the lens from the goggle frames by placing your thumbs to either side of the top center post, working them under then pushing it up and off, doing the same for the left and right top posts, then hinge the lens forward, run your pointer or middle finger in from the left then the right to get the bottom lens posts, then pinch the nose to remove the bottom latch then push up to move the middle.
Pull the strap from either side of the goggle frames, or push out from inside, thread through ears, and remove
Remove the rivets that connect the ears to the goggle frames, then remove the ears
For the lens, wipe it off but do not submerge it, you could get water between the layers and ruin the lens
For the rest, rinse under warm water, if it is extra dirty or you’ve gotten some second-hand gear, I suggest setting a large bowl into the sink, fill with hot water, put in a squirt of Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap, and rub thoroughly, use the soft side of a sponge if you like.
Set fresh/clean gear aside to dry on paper towels or a drying rack, patting out excess moisture first in the goggle foam.
Reassemble that fresh JT Proflex
Goggle lens first, beginning by pinching the nose and securing the upper notches then the bottom, use your palm to press the bottom left and right notches in, align sides and top, use palm to press left and right side in, make sure top is aligned, and press down with the meat of your palm again. You may need to gently rock your palm back and forth some, but that method works smoother than fingers and force.
